B2Bpay for marketing and creative agencies

B2Bpay lets agencies pay freelancers, printers, production houses, media owners, software and the ATO by credit card, with the payee receiving a bank transfer, so the campaign costs you carry for clients earn points and sit on your card for up to 55 days.

What agency bills can be paid through B2Bpay?

Short answer: The costs you carry on behalf of clients and the overheads of running the studio. Freelancers, printers, production and media invoices, software, rent and the ATO can all be paid by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, with the payee receiving a bank transfer or BPAY payment.

Agencies already pay advertising platforms by card. The gap is everything else, which arrives as an invoice with a BSB and account number:

  • Freelance designers, copywriters, developers, photographers and videographers.
  • Printers, signage, merchandise and promotional product suppliers.
  • Production houses, studios, talent, voice artists and event venues.
  • Media owners and publishers who invoice for placements rather than taking card.
  • Software and SaaS subscriptions invoiced annually, office rent and insurance.
  • The ATO: BAS, PAYG withholding and instalments.

Why do agencies care about the 55 days?

Because agencies front costs. You brief the freelancer and book the printer in week one, pay them in week four, invoice the client with the finished work, and get paid 30 to 60 days later. B2Bpay lets you pay the freelancer on time by card while the cash stays in your account for up to 55 days interest-free, depending on the card and statement cycle.

That smooths the gap between paying production costs and receiving client payment without using an overdraft. The cash flow guide explains how to time payments against your statement date. Agencies can also collect client payments by card through the biller product, which helps the inbound side as well.

How much do the points add up to?

Your card earns its normal reward points on every B2Bpay payment, and B2Bpay adds B2B Points: 1 per $1 on Earn Max or 1 per $2 on Earn Plus. 1 B2B Point converts to 1 Qantas Point or 1 Velocity Point, or 2.5 Luxury Escapes Société Points.

An agency paying $60,000 a month of freelancer, production and media invoices through B2Bpay on Earn Max earns 60,000 B2B Points a month before card points. The points maths guide shows the working, and the calculator uses your own figures.

Who uses it and what does it cost?

Usually the studio manager, finance lead or the bookkeeper, with a director approving. Multiple user logins are supported. Bills come across from Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks, and the payment is recorded back automatically, so client disbursement tracking stays clean.

A $10,000 video production invoice paid by Amex on Earn Max carries a $385 fee and earns 10,000 B2B Points plus Amex Membership Rewards points, while the $10,000 stays in your account until your statement is due. See paying with Amex for how Amex works where the payee does not accept it.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay a freelancer who only gives me a BSB and account number?

Yes. You pay by card in the B2Bpay portal and the freelancer receives a normal bank transfer with your reference. They do not need an account, a card reader or any extra step. B2Bpay verifies the bank account details before the first payment.

Can I pay with American Express where the supplier does not take Amex?

Yes. The supplier receives a bank transfer, so it does not matter which card you use. Amex fees are higher than Visa and Mastercard, so weigh the Amex earn rate against the fee. The guide pay Amex where Amex is not accepted covers this.

Does it suit a one-person studio or only larger agencies?

Both. There is no stated monthly fee; you pay the platform fee on each payment. A sole trader paying rent, software and a few contractors earns points on spend that previously earned nothing, and the cash flow benefit works the same at any size.

Can I collect payments from clients as well?

Yes. B2Bpay's biller product adds a card payment option to your invoices so clients can pay by card, with the funds settled to your bank account. It integrates with Xero, MYOB and QuickBooks. See accept card payments.

Can I pay the ATO through B2Bpay?

Yes. B2Bpay pays the ATO by bank transfer using your payment reference number. The ATO has said it will stop accepting credit card payments directly after 30 June 2027; paying through B2Bpay continues. See pay the ATO by credit card.
