*Illustrative estimate only. The selected cents-per-point value is applied to both B2B Points and the credit card reward points you enter. Actual card-to-airline transfer ratios vary by issuer, card product and airline program, so the value shown assumes your card points are equivalent to airline-redeemable points at the selected value. Point values vary by airline, route, cabin, availability and redemption method. Card earn rates, caps, exclusions and eligible-spend rules vary by issuer and card product. The estimated after-tax cost assumes the platform fee is deductible, your business can claim the GST input tax credit in full, and the selected company tax rate applies. Actual tax treatment depends on your circumstances; seek independent tax advice.

How the B2B Points calculator works

Short answer: Enter a business payment, how you pay and your plan. The calculator works out the B2Bpay platform fee, takes off the GST credit and the tax deduction to estimate your after-tax cost, adds up the B2B Points and card points you would earn, and values those points at the cents-per-point you choose.

  1. You payThe platform fee for your plan and payment method, ex GST, less your assumed company tax rate. GST on the fee is treated as claimable.
  2. You earnB2B Points (none on Essential, 1 per $2 on Earn Plus, 1 per $1 on Earn Max) plus your card's own points when you pay by card.
  3. You keepThe potential value of all those points, less the estimated after-tax cost.

Worked example, using the calculator's starting values: a $100,000 Amex payment on Earn Max has a 3.80% fee, which is $3,800 ex GST. After a 25% company tax deduction the estimated cost is $2,850. The payment earns 100,000 B2B Points plus 125,000 card points at 1.25 points per $1: 225,000 points in total. At 3.5c a point that is $7,875 of potential value, or $5,025 after cost, about 2.76 times the after-tax cost.

Frequently asked questions

How many B2B Points do I earn?

On Earn Max you earn 1 B2B Point per $1 paid and on Earn Plus 1 B2B Point per $2. Essential earns no B2B Points but has the lowest fee. Your card's own points are earned on top when you pay by card.

Why does the calculator show an after-tax cost?

The platform fee is generally a business expense, so the calculator deducts your assumed company tax rate (25% or 30%) and treats the GST on the fee as claimable. Choose "Don't apply" to see the fee ex GST without a tax deduction. Confirm your tax treatment with your accountant.

What point value should I use?

The calculator offers 1.7c (economy), 3.5c (business class) and 6.0c (first class) per point as indicative airline point values. Real values vary by airline, route, cabin, availability and redemption method.

Does the calculator include my credit card points?

Yes, when you pay by card. Choose your card's earn rate (1, 1.25 or 1.5 points per $1) or enter a custom rate. Earn rates, caps and eligible transactions vary by card, so check your card's terms.

What is the difference between one payment and annual payments?

One payment shows the result for a single business payment. Annual payments shows the same calculation across your total business spend for a year.

Is this a quote?

No. It is an illustrative estimate only. The exact fee is shown before you confirm each payment, and actual point values and tax treatment depend on your circumstances.
