The Shower Man Melbourne, a family-run bathroom renovation business in Pakenham, moved around 80% of its business spend to B2Bpay. It now earns around 2 million American Express Membership Rewards points a year while paying suppliers who do not accept Amex directly.
Founder Amanda McDonald describes multiple international business-class trips each year funded by spend the business was making anyway.
Read the customer story →B2Bpay lets you pay any Australian supplier, the ATO, rent, utilities and insurance with your American Express card, even if the payee does not accept Amex. You keep your full Membership Rewards points and can earn B2B Points on top.
Short answer: Yes. You pay B2Bpay with your American Express card and B2Bpay pays your supplier by bank transfer (EFT) or BPAY. The supplier never needs to accept Amex, sign up to anything or change how they get paid.
Many Australian suppliers, landlords, insurers and government bodies either do not take American Express or charge extra for it. That leaves a large share of a typical business's spend earning nothing. B2Bpay closes that gap.
You add the payee once, choose your Amex as the payment method, and B2Bpay handles the rest. Your supplier receives a normal bank payment with your reference details, usually within 3 business days. More than 40,000 Australian businesses use B2Bpay this way.
The same approach works for payees who do accept cards but earn you reduced points. Because the transaction runs through B2Bpay, it is treated as everyday business spend on your card. See paying suppliers with a credit card for the full picture.
Yes. Payments made through B2Bpay earn Membership Rewards points at your card's standard rate, subject to American Express's terms for your card. B2Bpay does not cap or reduce them.
This matters most for payees that card issuers often treat as low or no-points categories when paid directly, such as the ATO, government agencies, utilities, insurance and telcos. Paid through B2Bpay, they count like any other business purchase on your Amex.
On top of your card points, you can earn B2B Points on the Earn Plus plan (1 B2B Point per $2) or the Earn Max plan (1 B2B Point per $1). B2B Points convert 1:1 to Qantas Points or Velocity Points, 2:1 to Avios and 1:2.5 to Luxury Escapes Société Points. See B2B Points and how points work.

Your supplier is paid by bank transfer within days, while the expense sits on your Amex until your statement is due. Depending on your card and where you are in the statement cycle, that can be up to 55 days interest-free.
For a business with lumpy revenue or long debtor days, moving rent, stock, contractors and tax onto the card smooths the gap between paying others and getting paid yourself. You pay the same amounts, just later, and you keep the points.
You can also pay your Amex bill through B2Bpay by bank account or PayTo and earn B2B Points on that payment too. Read 55 days interest-free cash flow for the detail.
No. Your supplier receives a standard bank transfer or BPAY payment with the reference you provide, the same as if you had paid from your bank account. They do not need to accept American Express, register with B2Bpay or change their process.
Yes. B2Bpay pays the ATO on your behalf by bank transfer using your payment reference number, so you can pay BAS, PAYG and income tax on your Amex and keep your points. This also keeps card payments available after the ATO stops accepting credit cards directly from 30 June 2027. See keep paying the ATO by card.
Australian-issued American Express personal and business credit and charge cards can be added to your B2Bpay wallet. Points earn rates and interest-free terms are set by American Express for your specific card, so check your card's terms for how Membership Rewards accrue.
Yes. Amex platform fees are tiered by annual spend through B2Bpay. On the Essential plan the rate starts at 2.10% and falls to 1.90% above $1,000,000 a year, with similar steps on Earn Plus and Earn Max. The applicable rate is shown before you confirm each payment.
Yes. Add Visa, Mastercard and Amex cards plus bank accounts to your wallet and choose a payment method per payee or per payment. Many customers use Amex for high-value supplier and tax payments and another card or bank account elsewhere.
Yes. B2Bpay supports one-off, bulk, future-dated and recurring payments. Scheduling rent or a quarterly BAS ahead of its due date means you are never late, and the charge still lands on your Amex on the date you choose. Recurring payments suit fixed amounts such as rent.
