You can pay your BAS with a Visa, Mastercard or American Express card through B2Bpay. B2Bpay pays the ATO by bank transfer using your payment reference number, you keep your full card points plus B2B Points, and it still works after 30 June 2027.
Short answer: Yes. Add the ATO as a payee in B2Bpay with your payment reference number, pay with your credit card, and B2Bpay pays the ATO by bank transfer. You earn full card points and B2B Points, and it keeps working after the ATO's own credit card option ends on 30 June 2027.
The ATO has stated on ato.gov.au that after 30 June 2027 you will no longer be able to use a credit card to make payments to the ATO directly. B2Bpay is unaffected because the ATO receives a bank payment, not a card payment. You simply funded it with your card.
Same BAS, same due date, same amount to the ATO. The difference is what you get back: points, and up to 55 days before the cash leaves your account.
Four reasons: points, cash flow, a possible deduction on the fee, and a cleaner payment history.
Earn reward points. Paid directly, ATO payments often earn reduced or no points with many card issuers. Through B2Bpay the payment is standard business spend, so you keep your full card points. Add B2B Points on top: 1 per $1 on Earn Max or 1 per $2 on Earn Plus, converting 1:1 to Qantas or Velocity Points.
Cash flow. The ATO is paid now; your card statement is due later. Depending on your card and cycle that is up to 55 days interest-free, as long as you pay the statement in full.
Fee is a business expense. B2Bpay's platform fee is shown on your tax statement and is generally deductible. Confirm with your accountant. Interest on an unpaid card balance generally is not.
Never late. Schedule the payment ahead of the BAS due date and avoid ATO late payment interest.
The platform fee depends on your card and plan: Visa/Mastercard 1.10% to 2.50%, Amex 2.10% to 3.85%, ex GST. The ATO itself currently charges no card fee, and B2Bpay's fee is a platform fee for the service, charged whichever way you pay.
| Payment method | Essential No B2B Points | Earn Plus 1 B2B Point per $2 | Earn Max 1 B2B Point per $1 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Visa / Mastercard | 1.10% | 2.10% | 2.50% |
| American Express | 2.10% | 3.40% | 3.85% |
| Bank account | 0.50% | 1.00% | 1.87% |
| PayTo | 0.60% | 1.10% | 1.97% |
Platform fees ex GST, as published at b2bpay.com.au. The exact fee is shown before you confirm each payment.
Example: a $20,000 BAS on a Visa on Earn Max costs $500 ex GST and earns 20,000 B2B Points (20,000 Qantas or Velocity Points) plus your card's own points. On Essential the same payment costs $220 and earns card points only. Compare options at pricing and what's included or run the points calculator.
The same payee works for PAYG instalments, PAYG withholding, income tax, GST and FBT, as long as you use the right PRN for each account. See pay the ATO by credit card.
BAS is usually the first payment people move, but the same account pays everything else.
Security is built in: PCI DSS compliance, tokenised cards, verified payee bank accounts, an Australian-based team and data kept onshore.
The Shower Man Melbourne, a Pakenham bathroom renovation business, runs ATO payments, supplier invoices and general expenses through B2Bpay on American Express, around 80% of its spend. The result is around 2 million Amex points a year and the interest-free period that frees up cash between jobs.

The ATO receives a bank transfer from B2Bpay carrying your payment reference number, and allocates it to your account in the normal way. There is nothing extra to report to the ATO; keep your B2Bpay tax statement for your own records.
The ATO has said that after 30 June 2027 it will no longer accept credit card payments directly. Paying through B2Bpay is not affected, because the ATO receives a bank transfer. You can keep using your card, keep your points and keep the interest-free days. See keep paying the ATO by card after 30 June 2027.
The RBA banned card surcharges from 1 October 2026. B2Bpay's fee is a platform fee for the service, charged whichever way you pay, including by bank account or PayTo, rather than a card surcharge. Our RBA guide explains the change. This is general information, not legal advice.
Allow up to 3 business days for B2Bpay to settle the payment to the ATO. Scheduling the payment at least a few business days before the due date gives a comfortable margin. Future-dated payments mean you can set it up when you lodge and forget about it.
Any ATO liability with a valid payment reference number can be paid through B2Bpay as an eligible business expense, including instalments under an ATO payment plan. If you are unsure which PRN to use, the ATO shows it in online services and the B2Bpay team can help before you pay.
Yes. Bank account payments on Earn Plus earn 1 B2B Point per $2 at a 1.00% fee, and on Earn Max 1 B2B Point per $1 at 1.87%. PayTo is similar at 1.10% and 1.97%. You do not get the card's interest-free days, but you still earn.
