How to earn Qantas Points on business bills with Qantas Business Rewards

Join Qantas Business Rewards (join fee waived via B2Bpay's link), save the same ABN in your B2Bpay profile, and pay the ATO, suppliers and rent through B2Bpay. B2B Points convert 1:1 to Qantas Points; on Earn Max that is 1 Qantas Point per $1.

How do I earn Qantas Points on business bills?

Short answer: Join Qantas Business Rewards, make sure the ABN registered with Qantas is saved in your B2Bpay profile, and pay your bills through B2Bpay. On Earn Max you earn 1 B2B Point per $1, which converts 1:1 to Qantas Points, on top of whatever your Qantas-earning card awards.

Qantas Points for business are earned through Qantas Business Rewards, the program for ABN holders, and they land in your business account, from which they can be transferred to a Qantas Frequent Flyer account. B2Bpay is a Qantas Business Rewards partner, which is why you can earn on bills that have nothing to do with flying.

There are two ways to earn through B2Bpay. The B2B Points route: earn B2B Points on Earn Plus or Earn Max and convert them to Qantas Points at 1:1. The Qantas pathway: sign up at the Qantas pathway sign-up page and earn Qantas Points directly, credited by the 14th of the following month. Either way, the join fee is waived through B2Bpay's link. See B2B Points and Qantas.

What is Qantas Business Rewards and do I need it?

Qantas Business Rewards is Qantas's loyalty program for businesses. Membership is required to earn Qantas Points for your business through B2Bpay; without it, B2B Points can still be converted to Velocity Points, Avios or Luxury Escapes Société Points instead.

Any business with an ABN can join, including sole traders. The one-off join fee is waived for B2Bpay customers who join through B2Bpay's link. Once you are a member, the ABN registered with Qantas must match the one saved in your B2Bpay profile, otherwise points cannot be matched to your account.

Membership also brings Qantas's own benefits for business travel, which are described on the Qantas Business Rewards site. B2Bpay does not control those and they may change.

How many Qantas Points do I earn per dollar?

On the Earn Max plan, 1 B2B Point per $1, which converts to 1 Qantas Point per $1. On Earn Plus, 1 B2B Point per $2, so 1 Qantas Point per $2. On Essential, no B2B Points, so no Qantas Points from B2Bpay, though your card still earns its own points.

Qantas Points from a $20,000 payment by plan (via B2B Points)
PlanB2B PointsQantas Points after 1:1 conversionVisa/Mastercard fee (ex GST)
Essential00 from B2Bpay (card points only)$220
Earn Plus10,00010,000$420
Earn Max20,00020,000$500

Your card's own earn rate adds a second layer. A card that earns 1 Qantas Point per $1 on purchases would add 20,000 Qantas Points on the same payment, because the charge is a purchase from B2Bpay. The fee is generally a business expense; confirm with your accountant. See points maths.

When are Qantas Points credited?

It depends on the route. B2B Points credit to your B2Bpay account 5 days after payment, and you convert them to Qantas Points when you choose. Qantas Points earned through the Qantas pathway are credited to your Qantas Business Rewards account by the 14th day of the month following the eligible spend.

Failed or refunded payments do not earn points. If points have not arrived when expected, first check that the ABN in your B2Bpay profile matches the one registered with Qantas Business Rewards, as a mismatch is the most common cause. Then contact B2Bpay on 1300 205 575; points queries go to B2Bpay rather than to Qantas.

Once points are in your Qantas Business Rewards account you can transfer them to a Qantas Frequent Flyer account under Qantas's rules.

Can I earn Qantas Points twice on the same payment?

Yes, if you pay with a Qantas-earning credit card. The card earns Qantas Points on the transaction under its own program, and B2Bpay separately earns you B2B Points (convertible to Qantas Points) on the same spend.

This is the combination that makes large, otherwise pointless payments interesting. A $50,000 BAS paid direct from a bank account earns nothing. Paid through B2Bpay on Earn Max with a Qantas-earning card, it earns 50,000 B2B Points plus the card's Qantas Points, for a platform fee of $1,250 ex GST by Visa or Mastercard.

Card earn rates and caps are set by your issuer, not by B2Bpay or Qantas; check your card's terms. Our guide to choosing a card for business bills explains what to look for.

Which bills earn Qantas Points?

Every eligible payment through B2Bpay: the ATO (BAS, PAYG, income tax), suppliers, rent, strata, insurance, utilities, telcos, council rates and other business bills. The biller does not need to accept cards or be a Qantas partner; they receive a bank transfer or BPAY payment from B2Bpay.

That includes payments made by bank account or PayTo, not just card, on the Earn Plus and Earn Max plans. So a business that prefers not to use credit can still earn Qantas Points on its tax and supplier payments.

You can also earn when you receive payments: the biller product lets your customers pay your invoices by card. The team confirms the current points offer for receiving payments.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Qantas Business Rewards join fee waived with B2Bpay?

Yes. A one-off join fee normally applies, but it is waived for B2Bpay customers who join through B2Bpay's link. Your business must hold an ABN, and the ABN registered with Qantas Business Rewards must match the one saved in your B2Bpay profile for points to be credited.

How many Qantas Points do I earn per dollar paying the ATO?

On Earn Max, 1 B2B Point per $1, converting 1:1 to Qantas Points, so 1 Qantas Point per $1 of ATO payment. On Earn Plus, 1 per $2. Your Qantas-earning card adds its own points on top, because the charge is a purchase from B2Bpay rather than a government payment.

Why haven't my Qantas Points from a bill payment shown up?

Check timing first: B2B Points credit 5 days after payment and must then be converted; Qantas pathway points credit by the 14th of the following month. Then check the ABN in your B2Bpay profile matches the one registered with Qantas. Failed or refunded payments do not earn points. Contact B2Bpay on 1300 205 575 for any points query.

Do I need my ABN linked to earn Qantas Points on payments?

Yes. The ABN registered with Qantas Business Rewards must be saved in your B2Bpay profile so that points can be matched to your business account. Without it, B2B Points can still be converted to Velocity Points, Avios or Luxury Escapes Société Points, but not to Qantas Points.

Can a sole trader join Qantas Business Rewards?

Yes. Any business with an ABN can join, including sole traders. Through B2Bpay's link the join fee is waived. Once a member, a sole trader earns Qantas Points on tax, supplier and other business payments made through B2Bpay in the same way as a company.

Can I earn Qantas Points by paying from my bank account?

Yes. On Earn Plus (1.00% ex GST) and Earn Max (1.87% ex GST) bank account payments earn B2B Points at 1 per $2 and 1 per $1 respectively, convertible 1:1 to Qantas Points. PayTo is 1.10% and 1.97%. This suits businesses that prefer not to use a credit card.

When are Qantas Points credited after paying a bill?

Via B2B Points: 5 days after payment to your B2Bpay account, then converted to Qantas Points when you choose. Via the Qantas pathway: credited to your Qantas Business Rewards account by the 14th day of the month following the eligible spend.
