Earning Velocity Points, Avios and Luxury Escapes Société Points on business bills
B2B Points earned on bills through B2Bpay convert 1:1 to Velocity Points, 2:1 to Avios in Qatar Airways Privilege Club and 1:2.5 to Luxury Escapes Société Points, as well as 1:1 to Qantas Points. You choose the partner when you convert.
How do I earn Velocity Points on business bills?
Short answer: Pay your bills through B2Bpay on the Earn Plus or Earn Max plan, link your Virgin Australia Business Flyer account, and convert B2B Points to Velocity Points at 1:1. On Earn Max that is 1 Velocity Point per $1 paid, on top of whatever your card earns.
B2B Points are the common currency. Every eligible payment on Earn Plus earns 1 B2B Point per $2 and on Earn Max 1 per $1, whether you pay by card, bank account or PayTo. Points credit 5 days after payment and sit in your B2Bpay account until you convert them to the partner you choose.
Virgin Australia Business Flyer is Virgin Australia's program for ABN holders and is free to join. Once your account is linked in B2Bpay, conversions are 1-for-1 with no rounding to worry about. See earn Velocity Points and sign up at the B2Bpay sign-up page.
Which partners can I convert B2B Points to?
Four at present, with more being added.
| Reward partner | Conversion | Program |
|---|---|---|
| Qantas Points | 1 B2B Point = 1 Qantas Point | Qantas Business Rewards |
| Velocity Points | 1 B2B Point = 1 Velocity Point | Virgin Australia Business Flyer |
| Avios | 2 B2B Points = 1 Avios | Qatar Airways Privilege Club |
| Société Points | 1 B2B Point = 2.5 Société Points | Luxury Escapes Société |
The conversion rates differ because the programs value their points differently. A Velocity Point and a Qantas Point are broadly comparable currencies, so both are 1:1. Avios are generally worth more each, hence 2 B2B Points per Avios. Société Points are worth less each and are redeemed against Luxury Escapes bookings, hence 2.5 per B2B Point.
You do not have to pick one program for life. The choice is made at conversion time, from your B2Bpay account. Whether a single balance can be split across several partners, and how long conversions take to land, is something the team confirms; call 1300 205 575 before you plan a large conversion.
Qantas Points or Velocity Points: which should my business earn?
Earn the currency you will actually redeem. Both convert from B2B Points at 1:1, so the maths is identical; the difference is which airline, partners and redemptions suit your business travel.
Points of comparison:
- Routes you fly. Domestic and international networks differ; pick the airline whose schedule matches where your staff travel.
- Business program benefits. Qantas Business Rewards and Virgin Australia Business Flyer each offer their own member benefits for business travel; check each program's current terms on their own sites.
- Your card's transfer partner. If your card already earns or transfers to one program, concentrating B2B Points there builds a usable balance faster.
- Join fees. Qantas Business Rewards normally has a one-off join fee, waived through B2Bpay's link. Virgin Australia Business Flyer is free to join.
Some businesses alternate: convert to Qantas for one trip, Velocity for the next. See Qantas Business Rewards for business bills for the Qantas side.
Can I earn Avios paying business expenses in Australia?
Yes. B2B Points convert to Avios in Qatar Airways Privilege Club at 2 B2B Points per Avios. On Earn Max a $20,000 payment earns 20,000 B2B Points, which becomes 10,000 Avios.
Avios can be used on Qatar Airways and, under the program's rules, with its partner airlines, which makes it a strong option for businesses whose travel runs through the Middle East to Europe or Africa. The program's own terms govern redemptions, partners and any expiry.
The 2:1 rate means Avios are the dearer currency to buy through B2Bpay: on Earn Max by Visa or Mastercard, $50 ex GST per 1,000 Avios against $25 per 1,000 Qantas or Velocity Points. Whether that is good value depends on the Avios redemptions you have in mind.
What are Luxury Escapes Société Points?
Société is Luxury Escapes' loyalty program, and Société Points are redeemed against Luxury Escapes travel bookings. Each B2B Point converts to 2.5 Société Points.
That makes Société the option for businesses that would rather spend points on hotels and packaged travel than on flights, or that want rewards for staff incentives and offsites. On Earn Max a $20,000 payment earns 20,000 B2B Points, which becomes 50,000 Société Points.
The value of a Société Point depends on the booking you redeem against and on Luxury Escapes' program terms, including any expiry, which B2Bpay does not control. Before converting a large balance, check the current redemption rates on Luxury Escapes' site and compare against what the same B2B Points would be worth as 1:1 Qantas or Velocity Points.
Points by partner: a worked example
Here is what a year of $300,000 in bills through B2Bpay on Earn Max would convert to, by partner. The fee by Visa or Mastercard is $7,500 ex GST for the year, generally a business expense (confirm with your accountant). Your card's own points come on top.
| Partner | Rate | Points received | Fee per 1,000 partner points (Visa/Mastercard, Earn Max) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Qantas Points | 1:1 | 300,000 | $25.00 |
| Velocity Points | 1:1 | 300,000 | $25.00 |
| Avios | 2:1 | 150,000 | $50.00 |
| Société Points | 1:2.5 | 750,000 | $10.00 |
Fee per 1,000 points is not value per point. A thousand Avios may buy more than a thousand Velocity Points, and a thousand Société Points less. Use the partner's own redemption rates to decide. The points calculator shows B2B Points for your own payment sizes.

Frequently asked questions
Can I convert bill payment points to Velocity Points?
Yes. B2B Points earned through B2Bpay convert 1:1 to Velocity Points for your business through Virgin Australia Business Flyer, which is free to join with an ABN. Link your account in B2Bpay and convert when you choose. On Earn Max that is 1 Velocity Point per $1 paid.
Can I earn Avios paying business expenses in Australia?
Yes. B2B Points convert to Avios in Qatar Airways Privilege Club at 2 B2B Points per Avios. A $20,000 payment on Earn Max earns 20,000 B2B Points, or 10,000 Avios, plus your card's own points.
Qantas Points or Velocity Points: which should my business earn?
Both convert from B2B Points at 1:1, so choose the airline you will fly and redeem with. Consider routes, each business program's benefits, your card's transfer partner and join fees (Qantas Business Rewards' fee is waived via B2Bpay; Virgin Australia Business Flyer is free). You choose at conversion time.
What are Luxury Escapes Société Points worth?
Their value depends on the Luxury Escapes booking you redeem against and on the program's current terms. Each B2B Point converts to 2.5 Société Points. Compare the booking value against what the same B2B Points would be worth as Qantas or Velocity Points before converting.
Can I convert B2B Points to Luxury Escapes points?
Yes. Link your Luxury Escapes Société account in B2Bpay and convert at 1 B2B Point to 2.5 Société Points. A $20,000 payment on Earn Max earns 20,000 B2B Points, or 50,000 Société Points, redeemable against Luxury Escapes bookings under the program's terms.
Which airline program gives the best value for points earned on bills?
It depends on how you redeem. Qantas and Velocity are 1:1 and suit domestic and trans-Pacific travel; Avios at 2:1 can suit Middle East and European routes. The cost in platform fees is the same per B2B Point; the difference is in redemption value, which each program sets.
Do B2B Points expire?
B2B Points credit 5 days after payment and remain in your B2Bpay account until converted. For current terms on expiry and any minimum conversion, check the B2Bpay customer terms or ask the team on 1300 205 575. Partner programs set their own expiry rules once points are converted.
