B2Bpay for horse racing and breeding businesses

B2Bpay lets trainers, owners, syndicators and studs pay agistment, vets, farriers, feed, transport, training fees and the ATO by credit card even when the payee only takes bank transfer, so keeping horses in work earns points and extends cash flow.

What racing bills can be paid through B2Bpay?

Short answer: The monthly cost of keeping horses in work and the overheads of a racing or breeding business. Training fees, agistment, vets, farriers, feed, transport, insurance and the ATO can all be paid by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, with the payee receiving a bank transfer or BPAY payment.

Depending on where you sit in the industry:

  • Owners and syndicators: trainers' monthly accounts covering training fees, vet, farrier and transport; syndicate management fees; insurance.
  • Trainers: feed and hay merchants, veterinarians, farriers, saddlery, horse transport companies, track and stable rent, staff training, vehicles and float running costs.
  • Studs and breeders: agistment, service fees, veterinary and reproductive services, feed, fencing and property contractors, bloodstock insurance.
  • Everyone: BAS, PAYG and income tax to the ATO.

The payee receives a bank transfer and does not need to accept cards. See paying suppliers who do not accept cards.

How does it help cash flow in a racing business?

Racing income is irregular: prizemoney, sales results and owner payments arrive when they arrive, while the trainer's account, the feed bill and the vet are due every month. B2Bpay lets you pay them on time by card while the cash stays in your account for up to 55 days interest-free, depending on the card and statement cycle.

For a trainer, that smooths the gap between paying suppliers and collecting from owners. For an owner, it means the monthly account is paid without waiting on a dividend. The cash flow guide explains how to time payments to your statement date. Trainers and syndicators can also collect owner payments by card through the biller product.

What do the points look like on horse bills?

Your card issuer pays its normal reward points on every B2Bpay payment, and B2Bpay adds B2B Points: 1 per $1 on Earn Max, 1 per $2 on Earn Plus. 1 B2B Point equals 1 Qantas Point or 1 Velocity Point.

An owner paying $8,000 a month across a couple of horses in work through B2Bpay on Earn Max earns 8,000 B2B Points a month before card points, close to 100,000 a year. A trainer paying $80,000 a month in feed, vets, farriers and transport earns 80,000 a month. Try the points calculator and read points maths: what a payment earns.

Who uses it, and what does it cost?

Owners typically pay from their own business entity; trainers and studs through the stable or farm office, often with a bookkeeper. Multiple user logins are supported, and bills sync from Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks with automatic reconciliation.

Frequently asked questions

Can I pay my trainer's monthly account by credit card?

Yes. Load the account, pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, and the trainer receives a bank transfer with your reference. The trainer does not need to accept cards or change anything. You earn card points and B2B Points, and the cash stays in your account until your statement is due.

Does a racehorse owner count as a business?

B2Bpay is for Australian businesses paying business bills. Owners, syndicators, trainers and studs operating through a company, trust or registered business are typical users. The team confirms eligibility for your structure when you register.

Can I pay vets, farriers and feed merchants?

Yes. Any supplier who invoices your business with bank details or a BPAY reference can be paid through B2Bpay by card. They receive a bank transfer and nothing changes on their side.

Can I pay the ATO by card after 30 June 2027?

Yes. The ATO has stated it will stop accepting credit card payments directly after that date. B2Bpay pays the ATO by bank transfer using your payment reference number, so BAS, PAYG and income tax can still be paid by card and earn points. See pay the ATO by credit card.

Can I pay stable staff wages through B2Bpay?

No. Wages and superannuation are not paid through the platform. B2Bpay is for suppliers, contractors, rent, insurance and the ATO. See payroll, super and what you cannot pay.
