B2Bpay for pharmaceutical and medical businesses
B2Bpay lets pharmacies, GP clinics, dental and allied health practices pay pharmaceutical wholesalers, medical consumables, equipment leases, practice software, indemnity insurance, rent and the ATO by credit card, with the payee receiving a bank transfer, so stock and overheads earn points.
What pharmacy and medical bills can be paid through B2Bpay?
Short answer: Stock and overheads. Wholesaler accounts, medical and dental consumables, equipment leases, practice management software, indemnity insurance, rent and the ATO can all be paid by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, with the payee receiving a bank transfer or BPAY payment.
Health businesses have a few very large recurring payees and a long list of smaller ones:
- Pharmacies: wholesaler accounts, often the dominant cost with short payment terms, plus front-of-shop suppliers, dispensing software and fit-out finance.
- GP, specialist, dental and allied health practices: consumables and PPE, pathology and sterilisation services, dental and imaging equipment leases, practice software, medical indemnity and practice insurance.
- Contracted practitioners and locums who invoice the practice.
- Rent, cleaning, waste disposal, utilities and the ATO (BAS, PAYG, income tax).
The payee receives a bank transfer and does not need to accept cards. See paying suppliers who do not accept cards.
How does it help a pharmacy or practice with cash flow?
Pharmacies pay wholesalers on short terms while PBS claims and customer payments take time to arrive. Practices wait on Medicare and health fund settlements while rent, equipment leases and indemnity premiums fall due regardless. B2Bpay lets you pay those bills on time by card while the cash stays in your account for up to 55 days interest-free, depending on the card and statement cycle.
For a pharmacy, moving a wholesaler account onto a card cycle is often the single most useful cash flow change available without borrowing. For a practice, the annual indemnity premium and quarterly BAS are the obvious candidates. The cash flow guide explains timing. Practices can also take patient and account payments by card through the biller product.
What do the points look like on health spend?
Your card issuer pays its usual reward points on every B2Bpay payment, and B2Bpay adds B2B Points: 1 per $1 on Earn Max, 1 per $2 on Earn Plus. 1 B2B Point equals 1 Qantas Point or 1 Velocity Point; 2 B2B Points equal 1 Avios.
A pharmacy paying $200,000 a month to wholesalers through B2Bpay on Earn Max earns 200,000 B2B Points a month before card points. A dental practice paying $40,000 a month in consumables, leases, rent and ATO earns 40,000. Both are bills that earned nothing before. Use the points calculator with your own figures, and see choosing a card for business bills.
Who uses it, and what does it cost?
Usually the practice manager or pharmacy owner, with the bookkeeper loading invoices. Multiple user logins are supported and bills sync from Xero, MYOB or QuickBooks with automatic reconciliation.

Frequently asked questions
Can I pay my pharmaceutical wholesaler by credit card?
Yes. Load the wholesaler invoice or statement, pay by Visa, Mastercard or American Express, and the wholesaler receives a bank transfer with your account reference. The wholesaler does not need to accept cards and nothing changes on their side.
Can I pay contracted doctors or locums through B2Bpay?
Practitioners who invoice the practice as contractors are suppliers and can be paid through B2Bpay by card, receiving a bank transfer. Employee wages and superannuation are not paid through the platform; see payroll, super and what you cannot pay.
Can I pay equipment leases and indemnity insurance by card?
Yes. Lease invoices and insurance premiums with bank details or a BPAY reference can be paid through B2Bpay. See pay council rates, insurance and utilities by card.
Can I keep paying the ATO by card after 30 June 2027?
Yes. The ATO has stated it will stop accepting credit card payments directly after that date. B2Bpay pays the ATO by bank transfer using your payment reference number, so BAS, PAYG and income tax can still go on your card and earn points. See ATO credit card changes 2027.
Is there a monthly fee?
No monthly fee is stated. You pay the published platform fee on each payment according to your plan, shown on the tax statement you download from the portal. The team confirms pricing for larger groups and multi-site practices.
